Making art from recycled materials.

One of the things that I enjoy most when working in the studio is working with recycled or repurposed materials. It is extremely satisfying to transform somehting that was destined for the land fill and make it into artwork. Whether it be recycled papers, scrap metal or fabrics, the goal is always to alter the materials to be something completely different through the use of technique. Lots of experimentation happens, and through the use of paint, stitch or sometimes even heat, amazing things can happen.

I know the work is successful when the viewer is looking at it very closely trying to determine what it is made from. Here in this video I transform waste papers and repurposed artwork to create this new piece, “Paper Floral.”
